Toukie is a French learning app and website that teaches vocabulary, verbs, and sentences through daily practice and spaced repetition. If you have questions about this policy or your personal information, contact us at [email protected].

Information You Provide

We collect information you provide when you create or manage an account, including your email address, sign-in details handled by our authentication provider, learning goal, daily goal, notification preferences, audio preference, and messages you send to support.

Information From Use

We collect information created when you use Toukie, including lesson progress, words and verbs studied, sentence answers, review results, streaks, study days, usage limits, feedback usage, account settings, and subscription entitlement status.

AI Sentence Feedback

When you use sentence practice, Toukie may send your answer, the English source sentence, and the reference French answer to OpenAI so we can grade your translation and provide feedback. Do not include sensitive personal information in practice answers.

App Privacy Summary

For App Store privacy purposes, Toukie may collect contact information, identifiers, purchases, user content, usage data, diagnostics, and other data needed to run learning features. This data may be linked to your account. Toukie does not use third-party advertising trackers and does not sell your personal information.

Toukie does not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, videos, microphone recordings, health data, or full payment card details.

Payments and Subscriptions

Paid subscriptions are processed by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat. Toukie does not receive your full payment card details. We receive subscription status, entitlement, renewal, cancellation, and related purchase information needed to unlock paid features and provide support.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, Toukie uses notification permissions and your chosen reminder time to schedule practice reminders on your device. You can turn notifications off in the app or through your device settings.

How We Use Information

We use information to provide and secure Toukie, create and maintain accounts, save learning progress, personalize lessons, provide AI feedback, manage subscriptions, send reminders you request, respond to support, prevent misuse, debug issues, and improve the app.

Service Providers

We share information with service providers that help us run Toukie, including Supabase for authentication, database, and backend services; OpenAI for sentence feedback; RevenueCat for subscription management; Apple and Google for app distribution and in-app purchases; Expo and device platform services for app functionality and notifications; Vercel or similar hosting providers for the website; and support tools if you contact us. These providers process information for us or under their own terms where applicable.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We may share information with service providers, when you direct us to do so, to comply with law, to protect Toukie and others, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Legal Bases

Where privacy laws require a legal basis, we process personal information to provide the service you request, with your consent where required, to comply with legal obligations, and for legitimate interests such as securing, maintaining, and improving Toukie.

Retention and Deletion

We keep account and learning information while your account is active or as needed to provide Toukie, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and prevent abuse. You can delete your account in the app or contact support. Account deletion removes your account and Toukie learning data from our active systems, subject to limited backups, logs, legal requirements, and payment records held by app stores or payment providers.

Your Choices and Rights

You can access, correct, or delete certain information in the app. You can also contact us to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection where those rights apply. You may withdraw consent for optional features such as notifications at any time.

International Transfers

Toukie and its service providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

Children

Toukie is not intended for children under 13, or the minimum age required in your country to use online services without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. No online service can be guaranteed completely secure.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as updating this page or providing an in-app notice.
